2018 - Soaring Success for Christ’s College Finchley Sixth Formers and a second consecutive year of Oxford entrances

Christ’s College Finchley celebrate another impressive year of results for A Level students; with 100% pass rates in 15 out of the 19 subjects, a good proportion of offers for Universities from the Russell Group with 2018 being the 4th consecutive year of Oxbridge offers and entrances.

Having received positive results across the board, there were many stand out subjects and individual successes. In addition to high overall pass rates, highlights include:

  • 50% of Chemistry grades at A*, A or B. a third at A*/A
  • 50% of English Language grades at A*, A or B
  • 50% of Literature grades at A*, A or B
  • 50% of Maths grades at A*, A or B.

Success stories have been recorded from across the curriculum, with some particularly excellent results in key subjects including: Science, Maths and English. As a result of students’ determination and hard work, they have secured places at a range of prestigious universities, including Queen Mary University of London, University College London, University of Warwick, Loughborough University, City of London and Cardiff to name a few and will embark on thriving career paths.

Our results reflect our promise to prepare students for an exciting world of opportunities, whilst encouraging them to strive for success and think ambitiously about their future. We celebrate with students today as they are rewarded and follow their career aspirations whether that may be an apprenticeship, first work placement, a gap year or attending university to take up studies in their specialist subjects. Courses include; Medicine, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Accountancy, Chemistry, Maths, Civil Engineering and Architecture.

Individual Successes

Outstanding achiever Amir is thrilled to have secured a place at Oxford University to read Chemistry after receiving 3 A*s in Maths, Chemistry and Further Maths.

Crediting the committed teachers, Amir advises future students to take advantage of the ongoing and valuable support offered at Christ’s College Finchley throughout the A-Level process. He praises the support network available at CCF and comments that the motivating environment and the endless opportunities are what make the Sixth Form unique.

Attending CCF Sixth Form has shaped me into an independent and confident learner, fully equipped and prepared for university. Our Sixth Form is unique as staff motivate us to apply for the university of our choice and strive for excellence in all we achieve, and provide the guidance to help us achieve this.

Ali is leaving CCF Sixth Form with fantastic grades; including an A in Maths, B in Physics and C in Design and Technology and is planning to further his education by attending City of London University to study Structural Engineering including a professional placement. He believes that CCF enabled him to achieve his impressive results as a direct result of the high standards set at every level of his school career. His advice to future students would be to always aim high and ask for support from teachers if you need it – there is a large and accessible support network at the school.

I would recommend the Sixth Form at Christ’s College Finchley because of the hard working ethic they promote that pushes all students to reach their full potential. Choose subjects that you are passionate about, because staff are passionate about their subject field – learning is exciting at CCF.

Ali, previously a student at Wessex Gardens, achieved impressive ABC grades at A Level this summer and is looking forward to his academic talents being stretched further as he has secured a place at Kings College London to study Maths. Ali feels CCF has always provided a friendly and comprehensive teaching environment which has allowed him to pursue his ambitions and would recommend CCF Sixth Form as the subject range provided allows all students to take a path that interests and motivates them.

All teachers at the Sixth Form provide continuous support for all students to make sure they get the guidance needed to achieve their potential.

Inspired by his teachers at CCF, Abdul has ambitious plans to study medicine. Having achieved a superb portfolio of results including AAB, he is delighted to start at University in September. Abdul would like to thank the Sixth Form team for their personalised career and UCAS guidance, which helped him secure his place at his university place.

Huda is celebrating her success after achieving an incredible set of results: AAB in English Language, Sociology and PE. She is passionate about following her dream of attending University in September to study Law and advises future students to grab every opportunity that there is, and encourages them to work hard from the start to embrace and enjoy the rewards at the end.

CCF Sixth Form has the best network of supportive and caring teachers! The reassurance and guidance from each teacher is inspiring.

Paras is delighted after accepting his place at Loughborough University to study Pharmaceutical Chemistry. He attained incredible results; AAB in Chemistry, Biology and Maths and spoke highly of the extra and individual support offered at Christ’s College Finchley. Paras would recommend CCF Sixth Form because of the personalised approach to learning within a thriving environment where everyone wants to succeed.

Teachers have gone the extra mile to help me achieve the best I can. My advice to students would be to never underestimate yourself, but always know that there is a strong network of support available at CCF.

Athena has ambitious plans for the future after gaining ABC grades in Chemistry, Maths and Biology and accepting her place at Queen Mary University of London. She is delighted to be studying Pharmaceutical Chemistry and hopes to one day contribute to the world of medicine to help improve the lives of others. Athena started Sixth Form in Year 12 after retaking the year and commends the staff at CCF for inspiring her to not give up and follow her dreams.

CCF teachers provided me with invaluable support, tailored advice and helped me to realise my full potential. The staff believed in me before I found the belief in myself.

Deen is excited to have accepted a place at Queen Mary’s University to study Maths, with ambitions of becoming an Accountant. He praises the teaching staff and Sixth Form team, commending them for their integral role in his success. Deen advises future students to work hard from the beginning of Year 12 and to ask teachers for support and guidance whenever it is needed.

The support and encouragement that each student receives is outstanding and is what makes CCF unique.

Benjamin is celebrating after achieving a Distinction and 2 B grades in Business, Maths and History. He looks forward to studying Accounting and Finance at Loughborough and hopes to become an Investment Banker. Commenting that CCF Sixth Form has provided him with the necessary skills to achieve his goal of attending University, he praises the wide range of enrichment and support that enhances their experience at Sixth Form, specifically the Russell Group Programme that is available at CCF.

I would advise future students to focus on their ambitions and to utilise the teachers, as they are willing to go the extra mile to see you succeed.

Thomas achieved fantastic results with ABC grades in Maths, Computer Science and Further Maths. He is planning to further his educational journey by attending the University of East Anglia to study Accounting and Finance and hopes to one day work in the City of London and become a Chartered Accountant.

I would definitely recommend the Sixth Form because of the amazing opportunities inside and outside the classroom. My advice to younger students would be to work hard and don’t underestimate the importance of your education.
