Christ's College Finchley

Ofsted

Our most recent Ofsted inspection was held on the 3rd and 4th March 2020, and we are extremely proud to announce that the school continues to be Good.

This report and the criteria against which it measures schools are very different from the last time that the school was inspected in 2016. The new regime is considered by many to be more challenging because of the very different criteria now being used. We are really pleased that the report highlights many of the features our parents, teachers and pupils are rightly proud of.

The Inspection report highlighted:

  • Pupils experience an environment which develops their character, interests and passions.
  • The calm and focused atmosphere in lessons helps pupils work productively. They show respect towards their teachers and work well with their peers.
  • Leaders have constructed a curriculum that provides pupils with strong foundations… and monitor the quality of education regularly.
  • Teachers display strong subject knowledge. This fosters a relationship of respect and trust. Attitudes to learning are very positive.
  • Students in the sixth form act as role models, and mentor their younger peers. They are proud of their academic achievements. They understand how these will help them secure a place at the universities of their choice.

Headteacher Samson Olusanya commented:

“I would like to praise our pupils, staff and governing body for all that has been achieved at Christ’s College Finchley over the last few years. I am delighted to be leading this ambitious and hard-working school and look forward to continuing to pursue the very highest standards in education for all our pupils.”

2016 Ofsted Report

We are delighted as of May 2016 that Ofsted inspectors rated CCF officially a GOOD school under the new, more challenging criteria.

A culture of high expectations and an established learning environment where pupils thrive.

Following two days at the Academy, inspectors were particularly impressed with the following areas, highlighting them as strengths and offering comments of praise:

  1. Teaching, leadership and management
  2. Quality of lessons and education
  3. Student progress
  4. Learning culture and environment
  5. High expectations
  6. The Headteacher’s high ambitions
  7. The good Sixth Form
  8. The governing body

Pupils mix well, are courteous and are polite towards each other and staff. They enthusiastically participate in extra-curricular activities and are proud of their school.
