At CCF Sixth Form, life doesn’t stop at the end of lessons – you can challenge yourself and achieve success in a range of opportunities that aim to enhance your learning experience, develop you personally and strengthen your UCAS application and CV.

 Enrichment activities

Enrichment gives you the opportunity to discover passions you never knew existed, time to continue pursuing an interest you already had, and valuable opportunities to connect with your peers and teachers away from academic study.

Through our MyZone Programme which takes place every Wednesday when there are no timetabled lessons, students can choose from a list of enrichment activities, such as:

Trips, Visitors, Events

Throughout the year we organise a range of trips, events and guest speakers, all of which either complement students’ academic study, introduce students to new experiences and cultures or promote the development of key skills and attributes. Below is a flavour of what is on offer to our students:

Leadership

A key advantage of attending a sixth form within a school, is the leadership opportunities that this presents. Our students can take on formal roles as part of the Sixth Form Leadership Team; and informal roles, mentoring younger students, running clubs, societies and sports teams or volunteering in the local community.

Extended Project Qualification

We place great importance on building character, resilience and self-assurance and supporting students on the journey to becoming truly effective, independent learners. That’s why we offer the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) here at CCF Sixth Form.

It provides the freedom for students to explore a topic that interests them, to reflect on their own performance, and to plan and manage a large-scale project independently. Taught in a university-style, through seminars and one-to-one tutorials, this qualification not only prepares students for higher education but also employment.

The EPQ is highly-regarded by universities and is equivalent to half an A level. So it is definitely one to consider!

Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a nationally and internationally recognised award, favoured by universities and employers alike.

Students can undertake the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards during their time at CCF; and achieve their award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections:

• Volunteering: undertaking service to individuals or the community
• Physical: improving in an area of sport, dance or fitness activities
• Skills: developing practical and social skills and personal interests
• Expedition: planning, training for and completion of an adventurous journey in the UK or abroad

Throughout the experience, students push their boundaries, gain new skills and enhance their CVs and university applications; all whilst growing as individuals, building confidence, independence, responsibility, dedication and commitment.
